The Port Hercule

Natural bay located at the foot of the Rocher, the Port Hercule played an important role in the development of the principality. Firstly used as a commercial harbor by Greeks and Romans during antiquity, the harbor adopted its current contours at the dawn of the twentieth century under the initiative of the Prince Albert 1st.

Then his successors kept developing it to make it the most contemporary and practical harbor of the western Mediterranean sea. A particularity of the Port Hercule is that it’s the only deep sea port on the French Riviera. Since 1929, it also receives the departure and the arrival of the Formula 1 Grand Prix.

Yacht Club Monaco

Symbol of the maritime tradition, the Monaco Yacht club was founded in 1953 by the Prince Rainier III, replacing the “Société des Régates”. Initiated in 1888 by Prince Charles III and his son, Prince Albert 1rst, made the Principality one of the best places in Yachting and International sailing.
